The transformation that takes place during the life-cycle of a butterfly is truly remarkable so I had no hesitation in choosing the Acraea Horta as my subject. These are butterflies with a number of generations overlapping in time making it possible to find a complete cycle within three weeks. Being distasteful to predators, they are conspicuous in and around their larval host plant, the Kiggelaria Africana. There is a lot more to life than meets the eye and with the help of technology it is sometimes possible to see with greater clarity the wonders occurring unobtrusively in the natural world around us.
